Wednesday Sign England Chalobah
Sheffield Wednesday have secured the signing of Nathaniel Chalobah, an England international midfielder, on a free transfer. The 29-year-old former Chelsea player becomes the Owls’ ninth addition in a bustling summer transfer window, having been released by West Bromwich Albion at the conclusion of his contract last month.
Chalobah was part of Chelsea’s FA Youth Cup-winning squad in 2012, but struggled to cement a regular place in the Premier League side’s lineup. He subsequently played for Watford and Fulham, and also had loan stints at Napoli, Reading, Burnley, Middlesbrough, and Nottingham Forest.
Despite his challenges at club level, Chalobah earned his sole senior England cap in 2018, appearing as a late substitute in their 3-2 victory over Spain in the UEFA Nations League. He had previously represented England across various youth categories from under-16 to under-21 levels.
Chalobah played in 46 matches during his 18 months with West Bromwich Albion but the club released him.
