Oxford Sign Kioso From Rotherham

Peter Kioso impressed for Rotherham after returning from a spell on loan at Peterborough

Oxford sign Kioso from Rotherham.

The Dublin-born 24-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan at Peterborough before featuring 12 times for the Millers, who were relegated from the Championship.

Oxford actively secured promotion to the second tier by winning the League One play-offs and have now made three significant signings, adding Kioso to their roster after successfully bringing in Will Vaulks and Jacob Knightbridge earlier in the summer.

“The reason I wanted to sign is because it’s a club that knows what direction they want to go in. I want to be part of that as the club have full belief and I do too,” he told the U’s website, external.

“I want to help the team get stronger. There is a great team here and I need to show the boys why I deserve to be here.”

In 2022, Kioso actively made the move to Rotherham from Luton, going on to make 25 appearances for the Yorkshire club. He previously played for Hartlepool and has also had loan stints at MK Dons, Bolton, and Northampton, actively shaping his career path.

“We are really excited to bring a player of Peter’s ability into our team,” said Oxford boss Des Buckingham.

“Peter brings a lot of qualities. He is a player that fits into the profile we are looking for at the right-back position and he will add to the way we want to play as a team.
