Newport County have secured the services of striker Courtney Baker-Richardson and midfielder Cameron Antwi on two-year contracts.

Baker-Richardson, 28, returns to Rodney Parade after a productive spell in the 2021-22 season, where he netted eight goals in 31 appearances for the Exiles. He comes back to Newport following a successful stint at Crewe Alexandra, where he scored 10 goals in 44 matches last season. Despite receiving a new contract offer from Crewe, Baker-Richardson opted to join Newport, becoming their ninth signing of the close season.

Reflecting on his return, Baker-Richardson said, “Having been at Newport before, I understand the expectations here. I remember the club’s ambition from my previous time here. It feels like home to me, and I’m focused on winning over the fans.”

Baker-Richardson tallied a total of 19 goals across two seasons at Crewe after departing Newport, and has previously played for Barnet, Barrow, and Accrington Stanley.

Antwi, 22, joins Newport as a product of the Fulham academy, having most recently been with Cardiff City Under-21s. His experience includes spells at Blackpool, as well as loan stints at Telford United and Southport. He expressed his enthusiasm about joining Newport, stating, “After speaking with everyone at Newport, I knew this was the right move for me.”

Baker-Richardson and Antwi join a list of new recruits at Newport this summer, which includes Michael Spellman, Matt Baker, Jacob Carney, Oliver Greaves, Kai Whitmore, Joe Thomas, Ciaran Brennan, and Anthony Glennon. These signings come despite Newport still searching for a successor to former manager Graham Coughlan, who departed on 20 June.
