Lincoln Sign Ex-Forest And Wigan Defender Darikwa
Tendayi Darikwa, former Nottingham Forest and Wigan Athletic defender, has signed a one-year contract with Lincoln City.
The 32-year-old has returned to English football as a free agent after playing in the top division of Cyprus with Apollon Limassol last season.
Darikwa, who began his career at Chesterfield and was part of Burnley’s promotion-winning team to the Premier League in 2016, also has the option for an additional 12 months on his contract with the Imps.
During his last stint in England’s League One, the Zimbabwe international captained Wigan to the title in 2022.
“The football club’s ambition really impressed me,” Darikwa said on the Lincoln City website. “The team came very close to reaching the play-offs last season, and I believe we can build on that.”
