Chelsea complete Veiga signing
Renato Veiga has joined Chelsea from FC Basel on a seven-year contract, the club has announced.
The 20-year-old can play in defence and midfield Portugal U21 international only joined the Swiss side a year ago, but played 26 times for the club last season.
Veiga will join Enzo Maresca’s first-team squad for pre-season training.
“I’m absolutely buzzing to be here. This is one of the biggest clubs in England – the biggest for me ” Veiga told the club’s website.
A graduate of Sporting’s academy in Lisbon, the son of former Cape Verde international Nelson Veiga had a loan move to Bundesliga side Augsburg in January 2023 before moving to Switzerland last summer.
