Brighton has successfully secured Malick Yalcouye, an emerging central midfielder previously playing for Swedish club IFK Gothenburg. The 18-year-old has committed to the Seagulls until 2029, with reports indicating a transfer fee in the region of £6 million.
Born in Mali and holding Ivorian citizenship, Yalcouye joined Gothenburg last year and made his debut for the Swedish club in February, showcasing rapid progress in his burgeoning career. Brighton’s head coach, Fabian Hurzeler, lauded Yalcouye’s potential and expressed optimism about his development at the club.
“He possesses significant talent and has the potential to evolve into a top-tier player,” remarked Hurzeler. “He is eager to embark on this new phase of his career, and we are enthusiastic about nurturing his growth.”
Yalcouye’s acquisition marks Brighton’s fifth addition of the summer, part of an active recruitment campaign that also saw the arrivals of Ibrahim Osman, Yankuba Minteh, Mats Wieffer, and Amario Cozier-Duberry. These signings underscore Brighton’s proactive approach to bolstering their squad ahead of the upcoming season, emphasizing their commitment to team strengthening.
With Yalcouye’s blend of skill, youth, and international experience, Brighton aims to enhance their midfield capabilities and sustain their competitive edge in the Premier League. The club and its supporters eagerly anticipate seeing Yalcouye integrate into the team and contribute to their pursuit of success in the upcoming campaign.
