Burnley sign Chelsea defender Humphreys on loan

Burnley have signed defender Bashir Humphreys from Premier League side Chelsea on a season-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old England Under-21 international joins with the option to buy and spent last season on loan in the Championship with Swansea City.

Having begun his career with Reading’s academy, he joined Chelsea at Under-15 level and also previously had a loan spell in Germany with SC Paderborn.

Humphreys made his debut for Chelsea in the FA Cup against Manchester City in January 2023 and made one further senior appearance for the club in the Carabao Cup against AFC Wimbledon last term.

He made 26 appearances, and scored one goal, for the Swans last season.
