Oxford Sign Polish Winger Placheta

Oxford United have secured the signing of Poland international winger Przemyslaw Placheta. The 26-year-old joined the club on a free transfer. Swansea released him earlier this summer.Placheta had a brief stint with Swansea, joining them on a short-term deal from Norwich in January.

Oxford, who earned promotion to the Championship through last season’s League One play-offs, have not disclosed the duration of Placheta’s contract. Placheta expressed his excitement about joining Oxford United and looks forward to playing in front of the fans and meeting his new teammates.

Placheta highlighted his confidence in contributing to the team’s success in the Championship, emphasizing his strengths in dribbling, speed, and directness. He also expressed his determination to provide goals and assists to the squad under the guidance of the manager. Placheta’s football journey includes spells at German club RB Leipzig and several teams in Poland before joining Norwich in July 2020.

During his time at Norwich, Placheta made 19 league starts and spent a portion of the 2022-23 season on loan at Birmingham. Oxford head coach Des Buckingham praised Placheta’s qualities, noting his exceptional pace and how well he aligns with the club’s requirements for wide players.
