Bristol City Sign Japan Winger Hirakawa On Loan
Bristol City has signed Yu Hirakawa on a season-long loan from Machida Zelvia in Japan, making him their second summer acquisition after Fally Mayulu. The 23-year-old winger featured in 61 matches across three seasons with Zelvia, scoring six goals. He notably set up the decisive goal in his final game against Nagoya Grampus last Saturday.
“We are thrilled to have Yu join Bristol City,” commented Brian Tinnion, the club’s technical director, on their official website. “Securing the deal took some time, but we are eager to see his contributions to the team.”
Hirakawa is set to join the first-team squad for their pre-season training in Portugal and will later travel to France as part of Japan’s football squad for the Paris Olympics.
