Stanisic signs new five-year Bayern Munich contract

Josip Stanisic has signed a new five-year contract deal with Bayern Munich.

The 24-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, had entered the final month of his Bayern contract.

However, the Croatia international has committed his future to the German club, signing a contract that will see him stay at the Allianz Arena until at least 2029.

He told fcbayern.com “I’m pleased to have signed a new contract at my club, FC Bayern. I’ve been a fan of this club for as long as I can remember.

“I’m grateful to Leverkusen because I learned a lot there – both on and off the pitch. I got to play a lot of games, show what I can do and get into a rhythm. I’ve grown in confidence and I think I’m coming back a better player.

“My objectives are clear: give everything for FC Bayern and win as many trophies as possible. It’s nice to be back home.”

Stanisic, who first joined Bayern in 2017 before progressing through the club’s youth academy, scored four goals and provided six assists in 38 appearances to help Leverkusen win the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal last season.

He scored against his parent club during Leverkusen’s 3-0 victory over Bayern in February.

The versatile defender also made two appearances for Croatia at the European Championship this summer, but could not prevent his nation from being eliminated in the group stage.
